Top 10 Fashion Trends For Spring
 | It might be time to tone your thighs. The biggest trend for Spring and Fall to 2007 are rising hemlines. The classic babydoll dress is back as well as vintage 1960's 'mod' looks ruled the runways for both seasons.
The top ten trends: Mini-skirtsIf you don't have the legs for one, don't worry. The trend from last season of wearing a mini-skirt or short dress with footless tights and ballet flats carries through to this season. Mod-dresses paired with tights and boots was also a big look. The look for less: All of a sudden those mod-looking dresses are hitting the shelves of high-end department stores with hefty price tags. Try checking your local vintage store or Ebay for the ORIGINALS. Look for labels Mary Quant and Pucci - they made MOD what it is. Metallic AccessoriesThe best way to spice up your existing wardrobe is to add a splash of silver or gold. Metallic bracelets, shoes and purses are your best bet. The look for less: Check out Nine West or Carlos Santana's (available at Amazon.com) line of metallic shoes, most start under $100. ClutchesThose oversized sacks are out for the next two seasons and sleek little clutches are in. It might be hard to get all your stuff shoved into one, but for you back it might be the best break of the year. The look for less: Shop vintage. Check out your local off-price retailer (ie. TJ Maxx or Marshalls) LuciteYes, that's right: Lucite. To continue with the Mod theme this Spring, Lucite is making a comeback. You can see it in shoes for the season; a lot of designers are using Lucite for heels on shoes. Lucite clutches and bracelets are also big for Spring and Fall. The look for less: Ebay.com - a great, wide variety of classic Lucite looks. Polka-DotsPair a polka-dot wrap dress with downplayed accessories or spice up a plain black dress with a pair of red and white polka-dot shoes. The look for less: Bakers shoe stores have a wide variety of polka-dot Mary Jane's. If you want something more upscale and funkier check out London shoemaker Irregular Choice's line of shoes: simply fantastic. The Little White or Beige DressWhite and varying shades of beige were a big color on the runway for day and night. It can be hard to wear a subdued color if you are not a size zero so be sure you get he right cut for your shape if you are going to go beige this season. The look for less.: Ann Taylor and The Gap have a wide variety of light colored dresses for the Spring. Wide beltsOversized patent leather belts worn at waist cinching heights continue to be a trend. A babydoll top paired with jeans, with a wide belt at the waist is a big look and easy to add to your wardrobe. The look for less: Off-price retailers are the best places to find leather belts for less - try and stay away from knock-off plastic belts, they rip and fray easily. For a cute selection of oversized babydoll tops check out Anthropologie.com. WedgesYou can give your ankles a rest this spring, the spikey, pointy shoe is out and wedges are in. The higher the better, and if paired with a Lucite heel in silver; well, then you get three trends in one! The look for less: Nine West's silver wedge with a Lucite heel will cost you hundreds less than the Stuart Weitzman that started the trend. Slim and Wide-Leg pantsIt's either or - but the super skinny cigarette leg pants of last Winter and Fall are OUT. Slim -- not super-skinny -- pants and jeans are still hot for spring. Pair them with longer tunic-length tops or swingy jackets with ¾ or kimono sleeves. Pair wide leg pants with a great belt and a fitted top. The look for less: Ann Taylor Loft, Express and H&M BanglesChunky, bright bangles accessorize anything. Mix colors and materials to keep the look strong, but playful. The look for less: Shop vintage stores, riffle through your closet to see if anything is leftover from the 80's and as always Ebay - cause one woman's trash is another's trendy treasure! | | | |
